The scene is the dark interior of a building, lit only by the lights of a video camera. The execution is being carried out by masked men in uniform speaking in Arabic, of whom there appear to be six in number. Saddam is on a second story, poised at a rail which overlooks the spot from which the video is being shot. A rope has been tied to a light fixture above his head, and the noose is placed around his neck. Saddam Hussein appears calm. The men in uniform begin to chant or pray in Arabic. Saddam speaks several times in response. The support on which Saddam is standing is removed suddenly, and he plummets down to the first floor. It is not clear whether the rope has broken. The scene goes dark, there is lots of shouting. The lifeless face of Saddam Hussein is revealed by a spot light. The noose is still around his neck. An unseen person lifts Saddam Hussein’s head and shoulders by tugging upward on the rope. Numerous camera flashes go off. There is one final, very bright flash at the end, which persists in memory after the video has faded to black.

It’s the last day of the year, which is the first day of the year most people start thinking about the future, lol. You still have several hours to come up with New Year’s resolutions, to get drunk and even to convince yourself of things that in the morning will seem impossible again.
