Proximity Time Clocks

According to Wikipedia: “A time clock is a mechanical timepiece used to assist in tracking the hours an employee of a company worked. This was accomplished by inserting a heavy paper card, called a time card, into a slot on the time clock. When the time card hit a contact at the rear of the slot, the machine would print day and time information on the card. This allowed a timekeeper to have an official record of the hours an employee worked to calculate and pay an employee.” Proximity time clocks take this basic principle a step further, by obviating the need for the physical insertion of a time card. Instead, as the name suggests, all that is required with a proximity time clock is that the employee stand within “proximity” of the clock. This range can be adjusted, but is usually set at a few feet. Proximity time clocks operate on the basis of radio frequency signals.
